This sketch is the seventeenth in a 365-day challenge to draw a picture a day, every day, for a year…
Day Seventeen: This unfinished drawing is a detail from a fresco excavated from a villa in Boscareale (near Vesuvius). The painting is now in the National Archeological Museum in Naples. In the original, she’s not quite so wide, and she looks more sad than angry. I took on more drawing I could finish today, but find I’m better able to draw with the digital pad. Picking colors is something I need work on. Plus space and proportion. Plus blending. This is a little too color-by-numbers for my liking. At least she has eyes.
